I am in love!

...with this little girl!

She will be two weeks old tomorrow!

I love this family so much.

I only picked up one little souvenir when I was in Seattle. Sorry, family, but first niece trumps everyone else.

Sleepless in Seattle

Right now, Tessa, Melissa, Kate, and I are sitting on the same bed in our hotel at Day's Inn and telling boy stories/giving wedding updates, just like the good old days. There's no where else on earth that I'd rather be at this moment than right here!

Side note: We ended up on the same floor as the Gamblers. They are a minor league football team from Houston, Texas. They are LARGE. If there is a fire and I pass out, I want one of them to be in charge of carrying me down the stairs, flung over his shoulder.

We've got ourselves a comedian!

One of the goofiest boys I teach (who alternately drives me crazy and makes me laugh, but most often drives me crazy), told the following joke to our class today:

Q: What did the Romans use to cut pizza?

A: Little Caesars.

This was a "laugh out loud" moment for me.

I feel crummy! Oh so crummy!

I feel crummy, and dummy and mad!!!!! Can anyone name the song I am parodying?

What is going on inside myself? I wish I knew. I've spent the past three days with a constant stomach ache. The gluten-free thing is not helping. It's hurting. I've been trying to get in touch with the doctor, but that's proving a lot more difficult than it should.

This is the worst possible time for this because
a) I am going to Seattle this weekend for the best trip ever with my former roommates Tessa, Melissa, and Kate
b) My students' concert is on Tuesday
c) My Wasatch chorale dress rehearsal and concert are on Wednesday and Thursday
d) One or both of my parents will be in town next week

Let's get this thing figured out! Dr. Jones, Jones, calling Dr. Jones, Dr. Jones, Dr. Jones wake up now (wake up now!). That was for you, Joe.

To Do List

This is why they tell you to never look in a woman's purse...

...it was what I could most easily access from my purse on the way to work. There were some crucial things I just couldn't forget that I have to get done in the next few days. What kills me is that I kept adding to it throughout the day (notice the different pens used).

The Newest Member of our Family!

We are so proud to welcome
Ella Carina Houston

to our family!

Ella arrived on October 12th weighing 2 lbs, 7 oz. Both mom and baby are doing well! We are so happy to have this new little baby in our lives. We can't wait to meet her, hold her, talk to her, sing to her, buy her more clothes, etc!

Congratulations, Joe and Shana!

24 and Older Single's Potluck

First of all, I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support on behalf of my brother and his wife. At his request, I'm waiting to give a public update. But just know that your prayers have absolutely been felt and appreciated by them. We love you and are all so grateful for your support!

On Sunday, my roommates and I hosted a potluck for singles over the age of 24.

I love these girls!

Was it a shameless ploy to get older singles to meet each other? Sure was. Was I hoping at least one couple would meet at the party, fall in love, and eventually create an eternal family? Yep. Did that happen? Probably not this time. But we all had a lot of fun!

We had a couple party guests who didn't quite meet the age requirement...but we let this one sneak in because she's our roommate and we love her.

There was an MBA potluck going on next door and we invited their group to come join ours after their potluck was done and eat some of the many delicious desserts that were brought.

We held the shin dig at the clubhouse where my parents own a condo and we all invited our friends that fit the bill. Consequently, tons of people were there who didn't know each other, which was definitely the point. I think we'll try it again sometime!

Who's that lucky guy?!

Now here is another stab at shameless matchmaking. If you are single and see someone you want to get to know better in this post, drop me a line and I will get in touch with their people and get back to you.
