A Saturday Outing

Ready to explore the Draper Aquarium!

PENGUINS!

My family decided the caption should read, "We haven't seen you at church lately...how are you doing?"

A trip to South America

Starfish, etc.

Looks like a ghost! Photo cred to my Mom.

SHARK ATTACK!

The "Italian" on GF bread from The Melty Way, one of my new favorite eating joints.

Fresh mozerella, tomatoes, and basil.  Puts all other sandwiches to shame.

Let Freedom Ring!

Last week in church, this was listed as the closing song.

My parents and Anna came in to town for the fourth! Jer, Tina, Anna, and Scotty started the morning off right by participating in the Freedom Run 5k.  Participants got patriotic socks.  I would have signed up if I knew about those!

The suspenders I got Scotty for his first Christmas came in handy on this special holiday :-).

Three more people would make this picture complete :-(.

I said I wanted us to act like fireworks.  One sister happily humored me and the other humored me.  My sisters are so good to me :-).
The BBQ was on of the best I've ever had.  Tina and Jer got tri-tip and Bratwurst from Costco.  Combined with my mom's baked beans and potato salad and our Grandma Lytle's peach cobbler (one gluten free and one regular), the barbeque was heavenly.

Brazil was playing Columbia and they WON! That's how it's done, folks.  I saw no problem with spending the 4th of July supporting Brazil, as that feels like home to me, too.

Papa's idea. He loved it.

Christina and Jeremy won three Stadium of Fire tickets on an instagram giveaway! Anna entered it with them so it was only fair she get the third ticket.  I wanted to go, too, so I found a pair of tickets being sold on KSL for a good price and our cute cousin, Keiana, joined us.

It's awesome that the condo is walking distance from the stadium.
Tina, Jer, and Anna's tix were far away from mine so Anna found a vacancy by us and let Tina and Jer have a little date.  Anna and Keiana have always been close so it worked out well!

The girls were teaching me the fine art of the double chin picture. I'm not sure when this became something to strive for instead of something to avoid, but I'm on board.

The dancing was truly fabulous, as well as the performance by the trampoline superheros!

One of my favorite parts is seeing the skydivers land in the stadium.

Carrie Underwood was FABULOUS! You can see she had three very happy fans in the audience. My phone wouldn't zoom in close enough to show her face, but I promise it was her. There were 40,000 witnesses who can back me up (give or take).  She is an amazing performer and musician.  I couldn't believe how good she was live.  She was definitely born to be a star, as cliche as that sounds.  I believe it's in large part because she is a strong influence for good.  I cried once during the evening, and it was when she switched from "Jesus Take the Wheel" in to "How Great Thou Art."  It was so powerful.  How incredible to be able to sing a testimony of our Savior to a stadium full of tens of thousands of people.

I had to take a pic of my cute Annie during "All American Girl" because that's one of the songs we put on her senior graduation video!
During one of her songs, everyone turned on their cell phone flashlights.  It was so cool! The picture doesn't really do it justice.

And finally, the much anticipated firework show!  It did not disappoint.

It was a delightful night (with the exception of the scary man near us that three cops had to wrestle to cuff and take out of the stadium, at one point dropping him down the bleachers because he was struggling so hard).  The whole day was perfect!
